Learning and Development Consultant Salesperson

Hours and Location: This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) based in the West Midlands, with Hybrid Working (field, home and office)

Salary: £38,000+ dependent upon experience (+ bonus)

Overview of Role: Identify new and existing customers who could benefit from TDM’s Tech and Digital Programmes to recruit, reskill and retain employees. Exceed KPI targets on starts per month.

Looking for your next challenge?

At TDM, we're not looking for someone to build a network from scratch.

We're looking for someone who already has one.

Someone who is recognised across the Birmingham and West Midlands business community. Someone who regularly attends networking events, is connected with employers, HR leaders, talent acquisition professionals and decision-makers, and understands the skills challenges organisations face.

If you're already successfully developing employer partnerships within the apprenticeship, skills, training, workforce development or further education sector (or similar) and you're looking for a role where you can genuinely influence growth, we'd love to speak with you.

Why join TDM?

TDM is one of the UK's leading digital and technology training providers, helping employers recruit, retain and develop talent through apprenticeships, skills bootcamps and workforce development solutions. Our mission is simple: Doing Well by Doing Good.

As we continue our growth journey, we're looking for a commercially minded senior professional who can help us expand our employer partnerships across the Midlands.

This is not a high-volume telesales role – it's a consultative, relationship-led position where you'll be trusted to use your expertise, credibility and network to create opportunities and build long-term employer partnerships.

What you'll be doing

You'll act as a trusted adviser to employers, helping them solve workforce and talent challenges through:

  • Apprenticeships
  • Skills Bootcamps
  • Early careers recruitment
  • Workforce upskilling and reskilling initiatives
  • Digital and technology talent development programmes

You'll work with organisations ranging from ambitious SMEs to large levy-paying employers, engaging in strategic conversations around workforce development, skills planning and apprenticeship levy utilisation.

You'll also:

  • Build and grow a portfolio of employer partnerships
  • Develop opportunities through your existing network and new business activity
  • Attend and represent TDM at networking and industry events
  • Generate apprenticeship starts and other commercial opportunities
  • Become a recognised ambassador for TDM within the regional skills landscape
  • Work collaboratively with our delivery teams to ensure an exceptional employer and learner experience

We're particularly interested in speaking to people who:

  • Already have a strong employer network across Birmingham, the Black Country and the wider West Midlands
  • Are known within local business, HR, skills or apprenticeship communities
  • Have experience working with levy and non-levy employers
  • Have a proven track record of winning and growing employer accounts
  • Understand apprenticeship funding and workforce development solutions
  • Are comfortable operating at senior stakeholder level
  • Enjoy building relationships and creating opportunities through influence rather than hard selling
  • Can quickly identify employer challenges and match them to meaningful skills solutions

What success looks like

This role is aligned to our Senior L&D Consultant career pathway, where success is measured by your ability to initiate, influence and create opportunities with employers. Senior Consultants are expected to generate significant apprenticeship starts (70+ starts per year) while contributing to wider commercial growth through skills bootcamps and workforce development solutions.

If you're interested in this role but would prefer not to come in at a Senior level, please do reach out to Abi and we'll be happy to chat to you.

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Bonus scheme
  • Working from home/hybrid and flexible working
  • 24 days holiday per year + bank holidays (with the option to buy more), increasing up to 30 days holiday with length of service
  • A paid day off for your birthday
  • A paid day off each year to support a charity of your choice
  • Access to Westfield Health, a health cash plan that lets you claim money back (up to set limits) on everyday healthcare costs, such as optical, dental, chiropody and therapy (such as physio, chiropractor, acupuncture etc) among other benefits for you (and your children)
  • An individual learning plan to help assist you toward your developmental and career goals

Join a business where your network, reputation and expertise can make a real impact.

If you're already a respected figure in the Midlands skills, apprenticeship or employer engagement community and want the autonomy to build something meaningful, we'd love to hear from you.
