Data & Systems Officer
As the Data and MIS Officer for our educational institute, you will take responsibility for managing core information systems and ensuring that reliable, insightful data is available to guide planning and improvement across the organisation. You will oversee the day-to-day operation of our MIS, complete required statutory submissions and produce analysis that helps colleagues understand patterns in performance, attendance and wider activity.
This position involves close collaboration with senior leaders, teaching and support teams, and external partners. We are looking for someone who is confident working with data systems, able to support others in using information effectively and committed to helping the organisation operate efficiently and transparently.
Key responsibilities
- Overseeing the MIS platform (such as Arbor), ensuring data is entered and maintained accurately
- Preparing analysis and reports on outcomes, attendance trends and behavioural information
- Assisting with assessment cycles, monitoring processes and internal reporting
- Managing statutory submissions, including government data collections and Census requirements
- Providing guidance and training to colleagues on system processes and data interpretation
- Supporting work related to curriculum information, timetables and learner onboarding or withdrawals
- Ensuring all processes meet data protection legislation and promoting sound information-management practices
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working within an educational setting
- Be confident managing or supporting MIS platforms (for example Arbor)
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills with proven ability to present data clearly (excellent Excel or Google Sheets skills required)
- Show exceptional attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused attitude
- Understand GDPR requirements and handle sensitive information responsibly
- Build positive working relationships across different teams and levels of seniority
- Be motivated by contributing to improved outcomes for learners through effective use of data
