Lead Data Scientist | Insurance

A global Insurer is looking to hire a Lead Data Scientist to join a well established team. This is an IC role building and implementing predictive models.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to understand their challenges and prioritize analytics solutions.
• Collaborate in cross-functional teams to solve complex business problems.
• Build strong relationships across departments to support project goals and broader team needs.
• Lead the development of predictive models using GLMs, NLP, and machine learning techniques.
• Generate actionable insights using advanced analytics tools and methodologies.
• Explore and analyze internal and external datasets for model development.
• Establish best practices and repeatable processes for the Strategic Analytics team.
• Provide thought leadership on innovative analytics techniques, approaches, and software.
• Mentor and support a team of predictive modelers and data scientists.

Role Requirements & Skills

• Strong ability to design and implement statistical models using predictive modeling, NLP, and data mining techniques.
• Proficiency in data manipulation and analytics using Python, R, and/or SQL.
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Azure) is a plus.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and ability to work in ambiguous situations.
• Experience in advanced analytics, preferably in the insurance industry.
