Main duties of the job

As The Kirkwood's Clinical Systems Transformation Lead, you will play a pivotal role in delivering one of the organisation's most significant transformation programmes.

Working across all clinical services, you will lead the development of SystmOne into a fully integrated, user-friendly and innovative clinical platform that supports interdisciplinary care, patient engagement and clinical excellence.

You will help create a future where patients have a single, personalised care plan owned by the whole multidisciplinary team; where documentation is streamlined and meaningful; where clinicians are supported by intelligent digital tools; and where patients and families are more involved in their care than ever before.

You will become a recognised expert for clinical systems development, digital innovation and best practice, helping to position The Kirkwood as a leader in specialist palliative care technology and integrated working across the wider health and care system.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the strategic development, optimisation and continual improvement of SystmOne across all services.

Design and build innovative templates, forms, pathways, dashboards and workflows that support high-quality, person-centred care.

Develop and embed a single integrated multidisciplinary care planning approach that is shared across professional groups.

Standardise documentation structures and clinical recording practices to improve quality, consistency and compliance.

Work alongside clinical teams to understand challenges and identify opportunities to improve workflows, reduce duplication and enhance patient care.

Lead the implementation and optimisation of digital innovations, including AI-enabled solutions such as Heidi AI and future technologies.

Configure and develop automation processes to improve efficiency and reduce administrative burden for frontline staff.

Enable greater patient and family engagement through digital access, shared records and co-produced care planning.

Develop meaningful reporting, analytics and dashboards that provide actionable insights for clinicians, managers and senior leaders.

Monitor system utilisation, performance and data quality to support continuous improvement and clinical governance.

Design and deliver engaging training programmes, user guides and support materials that build digital confidence and capability across the workforce.

Act as the organisations expert advisor on SystmOne development, configuration and best practice.

Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to support interoperability, integrated care records and collaborative working.

Support the development and implementation of policies, standard operating procedures and governance frameworks relating to digital systems.

Horizon-scan emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation that improve patient experience, workforce effectiveness and organisational performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential
  • Extensive knowledge of SystmOne and healthcare digital systems.
  • Understanding of clinical documentation standards and governance requirements.
  • Knowledge of healthcare information governance and data standards.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and clinical teams.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and innovation.
  • Ability to work in a hospice environment and demonstrate compassion, resilience and emotional intelligence.
Desirable
  • Understanding of interoperability and integrated care records.

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of developing and configuring SystmOne within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience of leading digital transformation or service improvement projects.
  • Experience of working directly with clinical teams to improve workflows and practice.
  • Experience of creating dashboards, reports and data-driven improvement initiatives.
  • Experience of designing and delivering training programmes.
Desirable
  • Experience of implementing AI or automation technologies in healthcare settings.
  • Experience working within hospice, community or specialist palliative care services.

Qualifications

Desirable
  • Clinical qualification (Nurse, AHP or equivalent healthcare professional)
  • Formal qualification in Digital Health, Informatics, Project Management or related discipline.
