Job Description: Finance Systems Specialist (Contract) Location: Essex (hybrid)Contract: Day-rate or fixed-term (initial 6-12 months)Company Size: £100m+ turnover Overview A £100m+ turnover business in Essex is seeking an experienced Finance Systems Specialist to assess, design, and implement an upgraded finance systems environment. This role will lead the end-to-end review of the current finance systems, recommend an appropriate future-state solution with potential to manage the full implementation. Ideal for a senior contractor with a track record of delivering finance system transformation who has an extensive background within finance departments. Likely a Qualified Accountant who has moved into the finance systems space.Key Responsibilities Discovery & Analysis

  • Conduct a full diagnostic of existing finance systems, tools and processes.
  • Assess system performance, pain points, data flows, integrations and reporting gaps.
  • Map "as-is" processes and capture business/functional requirements across Finance, Operations and Commercial teams.
  • Benchmark current capability against best practice for a business at £100m+ turnover.

System Recommendation & Design

  • Identify suitable system options (ERP/finance platforms) and evaluate against business needs.
  • Lead requirements workshops and design the "to-be" system and process architecture.
  • Produce business cases, costings, implementation plans and ROI analysis for leadership approval.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience delivering finance system implementations (ERP or mid-market finance platforms).
  • Strong understanding of finance operations (AP, AR, GL, FP&A, reporting).
  • Demonstrable experience improving processes, controls and data flow.
  • Confident managing vendors, negotiating scope, and running structured project plans.
  • Previous experience in a £50m-£300m turnover business or similar complexity preferred.
