IT Infrastructure Engineer
IT Infrastructure Engineer £50k (12 Month FTC) Cambridge (3 days per week onsite) This is a great opportunity to join an established IT team supporting a broad technical environment across the UK. You'll be the go-to person for keeping key systems running smoothly, from servers and storage to backups and patching, while helping to introduce new tools and technologies along the way.You'll work as part of a collaborative infrastructure team that manages the day-to-day health and performance of core IT services. It's a hands-on role with plenty of variety, balancing BAU tasks with small projects, upgrades, and service improvements across a busy, mixed estate.It's a great opportunity to broaden your technical exposure across servers, storage, virtualisation, and security in a supportive environment that encourages ownership and innovation. Although on an initial 12 month contract basis, there is potential for this role to go permanent in the future.Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update physical and virtual server environments
- Carry out patching, performance checks, and system monitoring
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in collaboration with other IT teams
- Keep technical documentation current and share knowledge with colleagues
- Contribute ideas to improve reliability, security, and automation
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong background in server administration (Windows preferred)
- Experience supporting virtualised environments (VMware or Hyper-V)
- Confident with patching, updates, and vulnerability management
- Familiar with Group Policy, Active Directory, and IAM
- Understanding of backup tools and recovery processes
- Eligible for SC Clearance (Have been in the UK for a Minimum of 5 years and full right to work without restrictions)
