Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for developing the Trusts management information reporting, in order to meet internal and external data/information requirements. This post will play a key role in analysing and interpreting complex information and data, utilising available technology to extend the availability of information to users to both empower them and raise awareness of the importance of high quality data. The post will ensure the availability of timely and high quality reports to the Trusts internal and external stakeholders. Job Summary
• To design, develop and maintain highquality reporting and analytical outputs, working closely with end users to ensure information meets agreed specifications and supports effective decisionmaking.
• To support the delivery of a reliable and accessible information service through the use of selfservice Business Intelligence tools, promoting their effective use within the relevant Division.
• To design and implement robust processes for integrating data from Trust patient information systems into the information data warehouse, ensuring compliance with statutory and national reporting requirements and alignment with the strategic direction set by the Head of Information.
• To work collaboratively with Information, BI, data warehouse and IT colleagues to support problem solving, solution development, and the effective communication of information outputs.
• To ensure the timely provision of adhoc and routine information to the relevant Division, ensuring outputs are accurate, consistent with statutory returns, and aligned with the principle of data collected once and used many times.
• To ensure that appropriate signoff processes are followed for statutory reporting and that internal trend analysis is available to support assurance and performance review.
• To proactively identify, investigate and escalate data quality issues, technical problems or adverse performance trends that may affect reported information, escalating to the Head of Information as required.
• To ensure benchmarking data is incorporated into internal reporting where relevant and used to support the identification of service and performance improvement opportunities.
• To support processes that ensure the daily availability, accuracy and relevance of management information within the data warehouse, working with technical colleagues to resolve issues and maintain data integrity.
• To develop and maintain an information services risk register that reflects service priorities and supports effective governance and assurance.
• To ensure that procedures for the production of statutory reports, key reports and analyses are documented, kept up to date and meet NHS audit and assurance requirements, including the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
• To work closely with the Data Quality Manager and service users to promote data quality, encourage ownership of data, and support service and performance improvement.
• To ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality and information governance requirements, including Data Protection legislation, Caldicott principles and Trust policies and procedures.
Scope and range
• Responsible for the delivery of timely, accurate internal and external statutory reporting in line with published NHS data standards, definitions and reporting requirements.
• Responsible for the production of highquality management information and analysis, adding insight to data through interpretation, investigation of trends and variances, and the presentation of clear narrative to support decisionmaking within the relevant Division.
• To regularly review reporting and analytical processes to ensure they are efficient, effective and appropriately assured, making recommendations for improvement where required.
• To maintain the delivery of a comprehensive information service and provide crosscover for other Information Manager roles during periods of absence, as required by service need.
• To engage with a wide range of stakeholders to develop a detailed understanding of their information needs and to ensure data and information outputs are fit for purpose.
• To provide stakeholders with timely, accurate and meaningful information and insight to support operational, performance and service improvement decisions. • To ensure key stakeholders are aware of their responsibilities in relation to information assurance and signoff processes prior to the sharing of information internally or externally.
• To investigate technical or datarelated issues that may arise in relation to reporting, including issues affecting the availability, accuracy or relevance of data, working closely with data warehouse, IT system managers and Information colleagues, and escalating issues where required. •
To keep up to date with and interpret national information standards, reporting requirements and information policy issued by relevant national bodies, ensuring these are consistently and accurately applied across all reporting.
• To hold linemanagement responsibility for Information Analysts, ensuring the provision of highquality, timely information reporting and supporting their effective engagement with the relevant Division and information users.
• To support the Head of Information in the delivery of an effective, robust and wellgoverned information service.
Duties and responsibilities
• To act as a professional lead within the relevant Division for information and reporting, ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy and timeliness in all outputs.
• To contribute to the delivery of a highquality, wellgoverned information service in line with Trust priorities and the strategic direction set by the Head of Information.
• To provide linemanagement responsibility for Information Analysts, including the allocation and prioritisation of work, regular supervision, and performance management.
• To set clear objectives for staff through regular onetoone meetings and to undertake Personal Development Reviews in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework.
• To monitor workloads and ensure work is planned, prioritised and delegated appropriately to meet service requirements and deadlines.
• To ensure Information Analysts are supported and effectively communicated with in relation to work objectives, expectations, development opportunities and training needs.
• To promote and develop the analytical, statistical and technical skills of Information Analysts through coaching, mentoring and agreed development activities, in line with departmental strategy.
• To support a culture of continuous improvement within the information team, encouraging learning, collaboration and the sharing of best practice.
• To ensure that work undertaken by the team complies with Trust policies, information governance requirements and agreed procedures.
• To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade, as agreed with the Head of Information.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification in Informatics, Information, Data, or a related
- discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Evidence of ongoing relevant Continuing Professional Development
- Maths and English GCSE grade 5 or above or equivalent qualification
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject, or equivalent substantial
- relevant experience
Experience
- Experience of managing complex information management development projects comprising the automated integration of disparate data sources and delivery of information derived from it. Along with knowledge of database structures and querying
- Experience working in a similar role within a large complex organisation
- Advanced knowledge of the concepts of information management e.g.
- taxonomies, dimensional hierarchies
- Experience of delivering statutory, commissioning and internal reporting
- requirements
- Understanding of NHS data dictionary and other relevant Information
- standards, including the ability to apply these to system analysis and reporting
- Developing and managing others
- An understanding of NHS information needs and analysis tools and
- techniques to support these
- Understanding of Information Governance and GDPR
