DevOps Lead - On Site in Nenagh, Tipperary

ONLY considering candidates within a commutable distance from Nenagh, Co Tipperary as the role has a strict on-site requirement.  Responsibilities
  • Define and deliver DevOps strategies supporting POS platforms, Terminal Management Systems (TMS), and Terminal Configuration Systems (TCS) - 

  • Translate product roadmaps and technical requirements into CI/CD pipelines, deployment models, and operational execution plans.

  • Design, build, and continuously enhance CI/CD pipelines for backend services and terminal software using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent.

  • Embed security controls into delivery pipelines, including SAST (Fortify), SCA, and DAST, enabling strong shift-left security practices.

  • Implement secure secrets and key management, covering key lifecycle controls, HSM integration, and cryptographic interface handling.

  • Ensure platform deployments meet regulatory, audit, and PCI governance requirements.

  • Build and operate Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, and manage containerised platforms with Kubernetes and Helm.

  • Provision and maintain development, test, and production environments, ensuring stability and consistency across all stages.

  • Govern configuration management and secure handling of environment-specific settings.

  • Design and execute release strategies for terminal ecosystems, including blue/green, canary, and phased deployments.

  • Manage artefact repositories such as Nexus or Artifactory, supporting controlled, auditable releases.

  • Establish observability through monitoring, logging, and tracing using tools including Splunk, Dynatrace, Prometheus, and Grafana.

  • Define SLIs and SLOs, lead incident response, and drive post-incident reviews and continuous improvement.

  • Lead performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimisation initiatives across cloud or cloud-native environments.

  • Embed automated testing (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end) into CI/CD pipelines and support device-farm or emulator-based testing for terminal images.

  • Collaborate closely with platform, security, product, QA, Android/terminal engineering, and operations teams to ensure release readiness and environment stability.

  • Provide clear technical updates, risk assessments, and delivery status to programme and senior stakeholders.

Experience
  • Proven hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles within large-scale enterprise environments, ideally in payments, fintech, or POS domains.

  • Strong background in designing and operating modern CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.

  • Practical experience integrating security tooling such as Fortify, SCA, and DAST into regulated delivery environments.

  • Advanced expertise with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and container-based deployment architectures.

  • Experience designing and supporting backend systems common to payment ecosystems, including:

    • Java, Kotlin, Spring, and microservices-based architectures

    • RESTful APIs

    • Kafka or other message bus technologies

    • Relational and NoSQL data stores

  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, Groovy, or comparable languages.

  • Experience operating in regulated or financial services environments, with solid understanding of PCI DSS requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders, lead knowledge sharing, and contribute to high-performing, transparent engineering teams.
