Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Application Specialist Lead to join our Health Informatics team. Reporting to the Head of EPR, you will lead the Applications Team and be responsible for the support, configuration, optimisation and development of the Trust's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems and associated clinical applications.

You will provide technical leadership, manage complex incidents, oversee system testing and upgrades, and work closely with clinical, operational and digital teams to deliver improvements that enhance patient care and staff experience. This role is ideal for an experienced healthcare applications specialist looking to enhance their leadership skills whilst helping shape the Trust's digital future.

Main duties of the job

As the Application Specialist Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the Trust's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems and associated clinical applications support the delivery of safe, effective patient care. Leading a team of Application Specialists, you will provide day-to-day leadership, technical guidance and support. You will oversee the support, configuration, optimisation and development of clinical systems, ensuring they remain reliable, secure and aligned to the needs of services across the Trust. Working closely with clinical, operational and digital colleagues, you will identify opportunities to improve digital processes and maximise the benefits of our systems. As a subject matter expert, you will lead the resolution of complex system issues, oversee testing and implementation activities, and ensure robust governance processes are followed to maintain patient safety and service continuity. You will also work closely with suppliers and stakeholders to support the successful delivery of digital projects and strategic initiatives. Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree or equivalent occupational/professional qualification, or equivalent experience
  • Educated to HNC/HND level (or equivalent) in an

  • ITIL Foundation
  • Prince2 Practitioner
Desirable
  • Membership of the British Computer Society (BCS) or equivalent professional registration

Experience

Essential
  • Minimum three years' experience in a system support or systems management role

  • Experience of working with large and complex datasets
  • Advanced use of spreadsheet and/or database applications
  • Experience of working with Hospital Information Systems or Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems
