Pharmacy Technician EPMA (Band 6)

37.5 hours per week

Join our innovative Digital Pharmacy team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, a digitally mature organisation. The EPMA team was shortlisted for two HSJ Digital Awards in 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of electronic prescribing and medicines management across the Trust.

You will play a key role in developing and supporting our EPMA system, working closely with pharmacy, clinical and IT teams to improve digital workflows and enhance patient care. You will also work with a range of digital pharmacy technologies including the Prescription Tracking System (PTS), BD Robot, BD MedStation and CIISafe.

Alongside your digital responsibilities, you will maintain a strong presence in the dispensary and clinical pharmacy team, supporting safe and timely medicines supply while contributing to training, service improvements and SOP development.

Main duties of the job

Join our forward thinking EPMA team as a Pharmacy Technician and play a key role in shaping safe, modern, digital medicines management across the Trust. This role is ideal for a confident, motivated technician who enjoys problem solving, improving systems, and working collaboratively with clinical and digital teams. You will help drive continuous development of EPMA, support the rollout of new functionality, and ensure our systems work smoothly for staff and patients.

You will thrive here if you have a passion for accuracy, technology, and patient centred care, and enjoy influencing change across multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to manage complex issues are essential, as you will be working closely with clinicians, managers and IT colleagues to deliver high quality digital pharmacy services.

Experience

Essential
  • Able to tolerate interruptions and deal with stress, complaints and conflict.

Knowledge

Essential
  • To undertake Continuing Professional Development Assess stock returned from the wards including hazardous substances;
  • Specialist medical knowledge acquired through training and experience
  • Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy
  • Advanced computer keyboard/labelling skills requiring accurate data input working within narrow margins of error.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of Trust/departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential
  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • GPhC (technician) registration
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable
  • Educated to diploma level in an IT related subject or equivalent experience
  • Accredited checking technician/CD competent. .
