Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust (SaTH) for a methodical and focused individual with experience of structured systems analysis, design, and programming to join the Trust's Development Team as a Software Developer.
The post holder will have proven experience of change management, ideally in relation to clinical system implementation. You will be highly capable of planning and prioritising work, managing competing demands and deadlines and you will have the enthusiasm and drive for results.
You will be required to take a flexible and innovative approach combined with excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills to ensure that the application performs to the requirements of its users and clinicians.
This is an excellent time to join our team as we embark upon the delivery of a digital transformation roadmap across the organisation.
Initially this post is for 2 years, with a possibility of extension.
Main duties of the job
Working as a member of a team, this role has responsibility for developing, testing, and productionising new technologies, programs and interfaces.
The role involves close liaison with all levels of clinical and administrative staff.
This role covers a second-line support responsibility offering both in-hours and out-of-hours support for Trust systems

Person Specification
Knowledge
- Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel and Visio) and E mail / Internet
- Up to date knowledge of Information Governance standards in relationship to information flows and data collection and retention.
- Good presentational skills
- Awareness of NHS digitalisation strategy and direction
- Knowledge of the NHS and Trust's Digital Transformation and IM&T strategy
- Knowledge and experience of change management strategies and approaches
- Awareness of Trust policies, particularly in relation to Data Protection and Confidentiality & Security.
Experience
- A good understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.
- Knowledge and experience in the key languages and frameworks: oVisual Basic / C# o.Net / .Net Core oJavascript / JQuery oASP/VB6 oSQL oAngular framework with SCSS oLyniate Rhapsody Integration Engine oRestful APIs / Web API's
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of frontend and backend computing infrastructure such as Windows Server, SQL Server.
- Familiarity with the production of technical documentation to support user requirements, system design.
- Good understanding of configuring Internet Information Service (IIS) and web applications.
- Experience designing user interfaces
- Experience of software testing.
- Experience of developing clinical systems
- Knowledge of agile methodologies.
- Previous experience working in a NHS organisation.
Education and Qualifications
- Educated to degree level and / or relevant experience within specialty.
- Evidence of ongoing personal development in the field of software development.
- Understanding of medical terminology (e.g. SNOMED).
