Key Essential Skills:

• Extensive hands-on experience with the Twilio communications platform, including SMS, Voice, Email, Authentication, and data services.
• Proven track record performing technical audits, platform assessments, or forensic reviews within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of communications architecture, message routing, carrier selection, workflow orchestration, and API-driven communication patterns.
• Demonstrable experience analysing platform consumption, cost drivers, and billing structures, with the ability to identify inefficiencies and optimisation opportunities.
• Ability to map technical usage to business services, products, and operational functions to improve governance and transparency.
• Experience evaluating account structures, tenants, and project configurations, with recommendations for consolidation or restructuring where appropriate.
• Commercially aware with the capability to benchmark usage against pricing tiers, discount models, and contractual constructs.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to translate deep technical findings into clear, executive-ready insights and recommendations.
• Self-sufficient consultant comfortable operating independently, structuring assessments, and delivering high-impact outcomes.
• Typically gained through 8+ years' experience working within enterprise communications platforms, CPaaS environments, or large-scale messaging architectures.
• Demonstrated experience delivering technical assessments, platform audits, or optimisation engagements within complex enterprise environments.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience conducting cost optimisation or FinOps-style reviews across CPaaS or cloud communications platforms.
• Prior consulting experience within financial services, payments, or other highly regulated sectors.
• Familiarity with communication compliance considerations, security controls, and operational governance frameworks.
• Experience supporting vendor negotiations or providing data-driven insights to inform commercial discussions.
• Broader exposure to enterprise integration patterns and customer engagement platforms.

Overview:

Our client, a leading organisation within the financial services payments sector, is seeking a Senior Twilio Audit & Optimisation Consultant to conduct a comprehensive forensic review of their Twilio estate.

This engagement will focus on building a complete view of the current communications landscape; identifying active services, analysing consumption patterns, mapping dependencies across business units, and evaluating platform architecture and account structures to strengthen governance, security, and operational efficiency.

A core objective is to uncover avoidable cost, eliminate inefficiencies, and deliver practical recommendations to optimise performance. The consultant will review routing strategies, carrier selection, message flows, and API usage to identify redundant processes or misconfigured resources contributing to unnecessary spend.

The outcome will be a clear, executive-level assessment supported by actionable recommendations that enable the organisation to reduce cost, enhance performance, and establish stronger operational control of its communications infrastructure.

This role is ideally suited to a senior consultant who thrives in diagnostic environments and is comfortable independently assessing complex technology estates while engaging senior stakeholders. 

Role & Responsibilities:

• Conduct a full forensic audit of the Twilio platform, identifying active services, dependencies, and usage patterns.
• Analyse communication volumes and traffic behaviour across messaging channels to determine efficiency and alignment with business needs.
• Map platform capabilities to business functions, improving visibility into ownership, consumption, and operational accountability.
• Evaluate the existing account architecture, including tenants and projects, and recommend structural improvements where consolidation or redesign would deliver value.
• Review routing strategies, carrier relationships, message flows, and workflow configurations to identify unnecessary traffic or cost leakage.
• Assess API call patterns and automation processes to detect redundant or suboptimal implementations.
• Benchmark platform usage against pricing tiers and available discount structures, highlighting opportunities to right-size consumption.
• Provide data-driven recommendations that support stronger commercial positioning, including potential pricing improvements or architectural redesign.
• Produce a structured, executive-ready report outlining findings, risk areas, optimisation opportunities, and prioritised next steps.
• Present insights to senior stakeholders, articulating both the technical and financial impact of recommended changes.
