JOB DESCRITION:
We are seeking a results-driven and commercially astute Commercial Officer to join our dynamic Commercial Business team. This is a unique opportunity to gain unparalleled exposure to the commercial business of a leading aerospace company.
The Commercial Team is responsible for driving the successful execution of contracts associated with the Sale & customization, retrofit, training, MRO and Support & Services for our civilian and military customers. In addition, you will be a key partner to the Offers Manager and Sales Team, providing critical support on contractual setups, including the negotiation and refinement of Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) during complex bidding processes.
This pivotal role necessitates seamless collaboration across various departments such as, but not limited to, Sales, Material Management, Production, Maintenance, and Finance, as well as other entities.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Manage the end-to-end execution of By the Hours contracts, from kick-off to close-out, ensuring strict adherence to company processes, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Lead the development and drafting of By the Hours service offers and contracts in collaboration with key internal and external suppliers.
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact for the Customer Support Manager or Sales Manager, leading the negotiation and execution of contract amendments and change orders associated with the By the Hours
- Proactively monitor contractual terms and performance, preparing and managing the pricing renewal process to ensure continued profitability.
- Monitor aircraft flying rates to ensure the timely and accurate consolidation of customer invoices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meticulously update and validate the business case in response to contract changes.
- Report on contractual performance to the AHUK Leadership Team, providing clear and concise analysis of key metrics such as schedule, profit, and risk.
- Develop and maintain a By the Hour contract register to ensure timely monitoring of contract renewal.

- Manage and support customer requests for contract changes, including potential buy-ins or buy-outs.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to meticulously update and validate the business case in response to contract changes.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive PBH contract register to ensure timely monitoring and renewal.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Commercial and Contract Management methodology within AHUK, identifying and implementing opportunities for enhanced efficiency and risk mitigation.
While this role primarily focuses on the By the Hours activities, you will also be expected to flexibly support the Support & Services function as well as other Offers and Commercial Managers based on team workload and business priorities

Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Aerospace Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a commercial, contract management, or a related business role, demonstrating strong commercial acumen.
- Demonstrable experience in supporting contract negotiations. You must be adept at financial analysis, business case development, and managing contract profitability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to influence and build robust relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organised with a meticulous attention to detail. You must have the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously and prioritise effectively to meet business deadlines.
- Excellent MS Office capabilities (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and GSuite (GSheet, GDocs, and related application)
- A proactive, "can-do" attitude and a flexible approach, with a talent for identifying commercial risks and developing effective mitigation strategies.
- Occasional to travel in the UK, France and Germany
Desirable
- A broad understanding of the global aviation/aerospace industry or another high-value, complex engineering sector.
- A track record of successfully managing the full life cycle of contracts.
- A strong understanding of contract law and its practical application in a commercial setting.
- Ability to work on several contracts at any one time and prioritise according to business needs

- Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must be able to obtain DBS and undergo Security Clearance.
