Infrastructure Engineer

Our client is an independent IT transformation & migration consultancy, solving complex problems with technology, methodology and experience. We support our customers to develop clear business objectives and ultimately map out environments quickly and effectively.

We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join us at a pivotal time of growth. The Infrastructure Engineer will work on existing migration projects to deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers.

Responsibilities:
· Obtain and maintain working knowledge of our migration/transformation tools and use in the delivery of migration projects (training provided)
· Take direction from the Project Management team and Sr. Migration Consultant to deliver Client projects
· Support migration discovery, analytics, planning and execution project phases with Client and internal resources
· Work with Client and the Project Management to gather/analyse Client requirements and match to solutions
· Analyse gathered environment data to normalize, map and import to establish dependencies and determine move groups and events
· Create / edit project plans and runbooks necessary to facilitate move events
· Participate in SME interviews to gather system, application and dependency information
· Attend logistical and technical migration strategy sessions with internal consultants and Clients
· Work to deliver assigned tasks per defined project schedules
· Data manipulation and analysis using Microsoft Excel
· Execution of V2V migrations to and from various different platform providers

Requirements:
· Knowledge and experience in application, data centre and infrastructure projects - particularly data centre migrations and consolidations
· Ability to perform server and application dependency analysis
· In depth understanding of data centre IT functions with a focus on application, server, storage and networks
· Working knowledge of virtualisation tools - particularly VMWare & Hyper-V
· Knowledge of infrastructure solutions from both cloud and on-premises, platform migration, system security, enterprise directories, and cloud technologies
· Experience planning and migrating applications from one platform to another (AWS, Azure, VMWare, Nutanix)
· Understanding in modernising workloads ie. migrating to managed instances - IaaS / PaaS solutions, or upgrading operating systems
· Proficient with data manipulation and cleansing using MS Excel and/or DB tools
· Knowledge of MS Excel advanced features (V-Lookup, H-Lookup, Pivot Tables, Advanced Formulas, etc.) is desirable

The role will require some occasional weekend and evening work.
