Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of Project Planning, this role provides a consultancy service to Project Managers and Engineering functions, supporting the preparation, monitoring, and updating of project plans across multiple programmes.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to construct resourced project plans using Primavera, in line with company standards and agreed project structures
Coordinate and chair resource planning meetings
Liaise with resource managers to ensure timely allocation and effective utilisation of staff resources
Coordinate the production of detailed budgets aligned with resourced project plans
Coordinate, report on, and analyse project progress status
Assist and advise on progress reporting to customers, senior management, and project teams
Advise on techniques for analysing progress, identifying issues, establishing current position, and forecasting trends
Report significant schedule slippages and risks
Coordinate the organisation's resource planning process
Coordinate earned value management and critical path reporting processes
Assist with the analysis of project costing reports
Support bid and proposal activities, including mobilisation and engineering development stages
Ensure project plans are accurate, realistic, and aligned with cost-to-complete estimates
Build strong, credible relationships with key stakeholders
Support the PMO and Head of Project Planning with monthly reporting requirements
Work with Programme and Engineering Managers to establish and maintain robust schedules
Attend and contribute to project review meetings
Maintain and update planning standards and procedures, and train Project Managers in their use
Travel to customer and other company sites as required
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including code of conduct, quality, security, and health, safety, and environmental requirements
Minimum Job Requirements
Experience working in a busy planning role
Experience using planning software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project
Strong understanding of Project Management and its impact on project delivery
Proven ability to maintain robust project plans throughout the full life cycle
Experience supporting complex engineering projects
Experience working across large, multi-disciplinary teams
Experience establishing and reporting Earned Value Management processes
Background in an engineering or IT development environment
Competent user of MS Office, Primavera P6, and MS Project
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience, or
Master's degree with 3+ years' experience, or
PhD or equivalent relevant experience
