Software Engineering Manager

The way the world delivers field services is changing fast—and Totalmobile is right at the centre of that change. As the UK's #1 Field Service Management provider, we support more than 1,000 organisations and 500,000 mobile workers with software that keeps essential services moving. From utilities and local authorities to healthcare and infrastructure, our technology helps people do vital work better.

Now, as we enter our next phase of growth, we're creating a brand-new leadership role: Software Engineering Manager. This role exists because we're expanding—and because what we're building next is bigger, bolder, and more complex than ever before.

Our Journey So Far

Over the last decade, Totalmobile has transformed from a single product business into a market-leading SaaS platform through eight strategic acquisitions and 450% revenue growth. Along the way, we've redefined how field service organisations plan, schedule and protect their workforces across the UK and Ireland.

But we're not stopping there. As we expand into new sectors and strengthen partnerships with existing customers, we're investing heavily in our engineering leadership to ensure we can scale with confidence and deliver with excellence.

The Platform You'll Help Evolve

Our Field First Platform brings together rostering, job scheduling, workforce management, field intelligence and lone worker protection into one intelligent ecosystem. Through acquisition, we currently operate three separate rostering platforms—and we're now undertaking a major unification and modernisation programme to bring them together into a single, scalable, future-ready solution.

This is a significant, multi-stream transformation initiative, and it needs strong, experienced leadership at its core.

The Role

This is a leadership-first role designed for someone who thrives on delivery, ownership and momentum. You won't be hands-on coding—but your technical credibility, delivery expertise and ability to unblock complex challenges will be critical.

You'll lead and develop a large, multidisciplinary Agile team spanning UK-based and offshore engineers and QA professionals. Your focus will be on delivery management: owning complex programmes of work, driving progress across multiple workstreams, and ensuring the right people are aligned around clear goals and outcomes.

You'll be accountable for delivery quality, timelines and team performance—providing clear, confident updates to senior stakeholders and stepping in wherever needed to move things forward.

What You'll Be Responsible For

You'll lead, mentor and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. You'll take ownership of the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle, ensuring complex projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

You'll work closely with Product Managers, Project Managers and key business stakeholders to translate strategy and requirements into executable delivery plans. You'll manage multiple development streams in parallel, balancing technical priorities with commercial commitments and revenue forecasts.

You'll also play a hands-on leadership role—removing blockers, resolving delivery risks, supporting technical decision-making and ensuring offshore and onshore teams operate as one. As part of this, you'll take accountability for Scrum Master responsibilities within the team and champion Agile best practices.

What We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced software engineering manager with a strong track record of managing large, complex deliveries in a SaaS environment. You've led teams of 10–15+ people across development and QA, and you're comfortable working with offshore or outsourced engineering partners.

You understand Agile delivery deeply—not just in theory, but in practice—and you know how to keep momentum on long-running, high-impact programmes. You're confident providing clear, honest updates to senior leadership and aren't afraid to get involved outside your immediate remit to keep things moving.

You'll bring broad technical knowledge, strong people leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with cloud migration, platform unification or legacy modernisation would be a strong advantage.
