Linux DevOps Engineer

Tradition is currently seeking to appoint a Linux DevOps Engineer to be based within the London office.

Main responsibilities within the Linux DevOps Engineer position include:

  • This is a hands-on role working with a range of internal stakeholders.
  • Primary responsibility is the operational management of Tradition’s electronic trading platforms to ensure maximum system availability.
  • To provide a secure and scalable technology platform.
  • Monitoring, maintaining and supporting the underlying Linux, hypervisor and storage infrastructure.
  • Dealing with requests and queries from both internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • To develop, maintain and follow operational guidelines for the support of current infrastructure.
  • Assist with planning and implementing major projects focused around infrastructure architecture.
  • Ensure compliance to Company & Regulatory requirements.
  • Form part of a team rota to support weekday shifts from 07:00-16:00 and weekend work (approximately 1 a month).

Key skills, experience and competencies required to be successful in this role:

Essential

  • Experience managing systems infrastructure, including using infrastructure as code
  • Strong depth of proficiency in Linux, including Bash
  • Solid grasp of data structures & algorithms, e.g. patterns and RESTful APIs
  • Experience with Python, Ansible, Puppet and automation tools
  • Good network knowledge, e.g. protocols
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, able to communicate with a diverse range of colleagues across the business
  • Keen to step outside your comfort zone and pick up new skills

Desirable

  • Experience with Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes for application deployment and orchestration
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as; Nagios, Zabbix
  • Familiar with log aggregation and visualization tools such as; OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Prometheus, and Grafana
