What will you do? Service Desk Team Leader

This role is based 100% from our Northampton Head Office 

Responsible for guiding, mentoring, and managing a team of IT specialists, ensuring both individual and collective growth. This role involves planning, delegating, and overseeing complex technical projects from initiation to completion while maintaining alignment with organizational goals. The manager enforces industry best practices and technical standards, promotes innovative problem-solving, and ensures the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable solutions. Acting as the primary liaison between the IT team and senior leadership, they translate business requirements into actionable technical strategies and communicate progress, risks, and results effectively. Success in this position requires balancing deep technical expertise with strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills, fostering a collaborative culture that drives performance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Some accountabilities of the role: 

  • Mentoring and Coaching: Guiding team members, identifying their skill gaps, and providing opportunities for professional growth. They serve as a technical and professional mentor, helping individuals reach their full potential.

  • Performance Management: Setting clear goals and performance metrics, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance reviews. They're responsible for ensuring the team is productive and that everyone is meeting their objectives.

  • Work Delegation: Understanding the strengths of each team member and assigning tasks and projects efficiently to ensure deadlines are met and workloads are balanced.

  • Problem Resolution: Serving as the final escalation point for complex technical issues, providing expertise and guidance to help the team troubleshoot and solve problems.

  • Liaison with Management: Acting as the primary communication link between the team and senior leadership, providing updates on project status, resource needs, and team performance.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working with other departments and teams to ensure seamless project delivery and alignment across the organization.

  • Translating Business Needs: Interpreting high-level business requirements and translating them into clear, actionable technical tasks for the team.

  • Quality and Standards: Enforcing technical standards, best practices, and processes to ensure the quality and security of the team's output.
