Full Stack Engineer

Treefera is an AI-enabled data fabric delivering unmatched visibility into the first mile of commodity supply chains. Our platform provides transparency across both commodities and carbon, synthesizing vast datasets into actionable insights that mitigate risk, enhance resilience, improve efficiency, and accelerate decarbonisation.

With adaptive AI, we analyze supply chains instantaneously—powering solutions for sourcing, risk, and compliance. Our algorithms make previously unseen and unknown information on real world assets visible, usable and defensible to the plot-level. We do this at a fraction of the computing power used in contemporary AI, ensuring that we focus only on actionable insights for real needs, providing maximum competitive advantage for our clients in return. Working with Treefera, businesses are empowered to make and defend supply chain decisions with more confidence at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional analytics.

By delivering transparency at the source, and demonstrating the commercial benefits of proper asset valuation, Treefera is transforming the first-mile into engines of resilience and sustainability for the benefit of business and the planet.

We are a global enterprise with operating units in the US, UK, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Who you are

You are a seasoned Fullstack Engineer with a strong technical foundation and a product mindset. You’ve built scalable systems, led development initiatives, and enjoy mentoring engineers and shaping best practices. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and confident making architectural decisions that balance technical trade-offs with user value.

In this Lead role, you’ll take technical ownership over core parts of our web platform, guiding implementation from design to deployment, and collaborating across engineering, product, and design to deliver impactful features. You’ll help set technical direction, ensure code quality, and act as a pillar of our engineering culture.

Must-have requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience building full stack web applications with modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Strong backend expertise in Node.js/NestJS or equivalent frameworks.
  • Proficiency in both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB).
  • Proven frontend experience developing robust SPAs, ideally with frameworks like React.
  • Deep understanding of engineering best practices (e.g., separation of concerns, API design, testability, CI/CD).
  • Comfortable working in Agile, collaborative environments, owning outcomes rather than tasks.
  • Strong communication skills—able to align technical decisions with product goals and articulate them clearly.
  • Autonomous but a team player: you will have ownership, impact and opportunities to show your strength, but ultimately we are all in this together to fulfil Treefera’s mission.

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience in a leadership or mentorship capacity within an engineering team.
  • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and cloud-native practices.
  • Experience working with geospatial data (GeoJSON, Mapbox, Leaflet).
  • Knowledge of Python and/or data-heavy backend systems is a plus.
  • Experience designing or implementing dashboarding components (graphs, charts).

What the job involves

  • You are a driver of progress—not just executing but leading the team through uncertainty and iteration.
  • You work in a feature-oriented pod and contribute across the stack, from shaping backend APIs to refining UI interactions.
  • You challenge assumptions, drive clarity in product requirements, and always seek to align implementation with business value.
  • You contribute to release planning, documentation, test coverage, demos and support post-release feedback.
  • You ensure that our systems are technically sound, well-documented, and future-proof where it matters.
  • You actively participate in the engineering community to uphold consistency and evolve our practices.
  • You bring energy, empathy, and a sense of humour—Treefera is a mission-driven company, and we build cool things with great people.
