The role

An excellent opportunity for an experienced data and integration leader to join a global, multi-division group at a pivotal moment. You will be one of five Leads in a brand-new Enterprise Applications and Data Enablement function, taking ownership of your domain from day one and shaping how trusted data, analytics, AI and integration underpin the organisation's growth.

The business is part-way through a major IT Transformation programme, delivering a federated operating model, a target enterprise architecture and a group-wide governance framework. You will complete the implementation of the target operating model for your domain, build the team and ways of working, and move it into steady-state operation.

You will own the platforms, standards, tooling and pipelines that make data reliable, secure and accessible. The business retains ownership of the data itself and how it is used, so you will partner closely with the Chief Data Officer and data governance roles.

Your scope is global and group-wide, across multiple divisions, group functions and dozens of sites worldwide. The model is federated, so you set the standards and platforms while Divisional Heads of IT deliver locally.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and scale the enterprise data platform, with governed pipelines and a layered (raw to business-ready) architecture
• Run data quality, metadata, lineage and catalogue tooling so data assets are discoverable and trustworthy
• Own the Group's integration platforms and API management, choosing the right pattern for each need rather than one tool for everything
• Enable divisional data, analytics and OT/IoT needs through group platforms and standards
• Provide and govern reporting and analytics platforms, plus controlled environments for data science and early AI/ML exploration
• Implement MLOps and model governance so AI is adopted safely and in line with the Group's AI strategy
• Deliver in vertical slices, pairing high-value insight with the minimum foundations needed to make each one usable
• Deploy master data management and governance tooling in support of business-owned data governance
• Manage vendors, optimise consumption-based platform costs, and track KPIs for pipeline reliability, data quality and platform health
• Build and develop your team, and propose the onward structure and sourcing model as scope is confirmed

About you

Essential

• Significant IT experience, including leading a team, platform area or technical practice in a complex organisation
• Substantial experience building and operating modern cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake or similar)
• Hands-on experience of integration technologies (API management, iPaaS, event-driven messaging) and sound judgement on when to use each
• Experience with data quality, metadata, lineage and catalogue tooling in live operation
• Experience providing and governing enterprise reporting platforms such as Power BI at scale
• Experience enabling data science and AI/ML from a platform and governance perspective
• A track record of taking change into live operation and steady-state running, not just go-live
• Experience in federated or multi-division environments, balancing central standards with divisional autonomy
• Strong data architecture literacy, able to review, challenge and guide technical design
• Proven line management and team development capability

Desirable

• Experience with Fabric, Power BI and MuleSoft or Azure API Management
• Relevant certifications (Microsoft data or analytics, MuleSoft, CDMP/DAMA-DMBOK)
• Experience in engineering-led or asset-intensive sectors
• Agile practitioner certification or equivalent experience of agile delivery at scale
• Eligibility for UK security clearance
