Infrastructure Architect

Infrastructure Architect
£600 - £680/day | Outside IR35 | Initial six-month contract with likely extensions
Milton Keynes - two days onsite per week

We're supporting an organisation undertaking a major technology and cyber security transformation, with an opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Architect to shape the future of its infrastructure estate.

Working across on-premise infrastructure, AWS and Azure, you'll assess a complex environment, identify architectural gaps and define a clear roadmap for improvement. You'll work closely with engineering teams to turn designs into practical solutions across cloud, networking, security and operational resilience.

The role

  • Assess and document the existing infrastructure estate, identifying gaps in configuration, ownership and capability.

  • Define target-state architecture and improvement roadmaps across AWS, Azure and on-premise environments.

  • Provide architectural direction for backup, disaster recovery and cyber recovery initiatives.

  • Review cloud networking, hybrid connectivity, segmentation and security controls.

  • Help maximise Microsoft capabilities across Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, SCCM, Defender and Sentinel.

  • Support engineers through proofs of concept, pilots and implementation, while challenging suppliers and guiding technical decisions.

What we're looking for

  • Strong infrastructure architecture experience across both AWS and Azure, alongside on-premise environments.

  • A solid networking background, including cloud networking and hybrid connectivity.

  • Experience designing backup, disaster recovery and operational resilience solutions.

  • A track record of assessing complex or poorly documented estates and creating practical improvement plans.

  • Broad knowledge of Microsoft identity, endpoint management and security technologies.

  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work closely with engineers and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.

Rubrik experience would be beneficial, although experience with other backup and recovery platforms is welcome. Experience within financial services, insurance or another regulated environment would also be advantageous.

This is an initial six-month engagement supporting a three-year transformation programme, with potential for extension. You'll report to the Head of Infrastructure, with a dotted line to the CISO.

Two days per week onsite in Milton Keynes are required, ideally including Wednesday. An immediate start is preferred, although the client can accommodate up to four weeks' notice for the right person.
