initial 6 month contract - £575 - £650 a day - outside IR35

Fully onsite role based - Newbury - (9-day fortnight, every other Friday off)

We are seeking an experienced Contract Juniper Network Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise-grade LAN/WAN/WLAN environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering secure, highly available, and scalable network solutions leveraging Juniper technologies, with integration into cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise LAN/WAN/WLAN networks using Juniper technologies
  • Plan and deploy high-availability, resilient, and scalable network architectures
  • Integrate on-premise infrastructure with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Configure and manage Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Implement and administer network security solutions
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across network environments
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimise network performance and capacity
  • Implement network automation using scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, or similar)
  • Produce and maintain:
    • Network diagrams
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Runbooks
    • Configuration and support documentation
  • Participate in an on-call rota (details to be confirmed)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise networks using Juniper technologies
  • Strong hands-on configuration experience with:
    • Juniper routers (MX series or equivalent)
    • Juniper switches (EX/QFX series)
    • Juniper SRX firewalls
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS)
    • VLANs, MPLS, VPNs
    • High-availability and failover technologies
  • Experience integrating enterprise networks with AWS and/or Azure
  • Strong troubleshooting capability in complex, multi-site environments
  • Experience implementing security controls and firewall policies
  • Network automation experience (Python, Ansible, Junos automation, or similar)
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in secure or highly regulated environments
  • Exposure to multi-site enterprise or critical infrastructure networks
  • Familiarity with monitoring and performance management tools
