£550-£600 outside IR35

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to play a critical role in integrating data assets following a major acquisition. The acquired company operates across 20+ enterprise application systems, and this role will lead the extraction, transformation, and migration of that data into the parent company's environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of large-scale data migrations from acquired companies into the Azure ecosystem.
  • Own the end-to-end ETL/ELT pipeline strategy, ensuring scalability, resilience, and automation.
  • Partner with business, IT, and integration teams to map legacy enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, HRIS, Finance, industry-specific platforms) into standardized data models.
  • Drive data harmonization, deduplication, and master data management (MDM) to enable a single source of truth.
  • Establish and enforce data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks across acquired datasets.
  • Leverage Azure-native services such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Data Lake, and Purview to build modern, cloud-first data pipelines.
  • Act as a point of escalation for data integration issues and ensure rapid resolution in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, including leading enterprise-scale migrations.
  • Proven track record in Azure cloud data services (ADF, Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake, Purview, Event Hubs, Functions).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Experience integrating 20+ enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, Workday, or ServiceNow.
  • Deep understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks, data warehousing, and streaming architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with data governance, compliance, and security (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX).
  • Exceptional ability to communicate with business leaders, architects, and technical teams.
  • Prior experience in M&A integration projects would be desirable

Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments where priorities shift quickly is essential.

We're looking for someone who can start quickly - so maximum of a 2 week notice period is essential
