IT & Operations Lead
We are working on behalf of a well-established engineering company in the Stourbridge area to recruit for an experienced IT & Operations Lead. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to join a forward-thinking business and take ownership of improving warehouse operations through IT systems and digital transformation.
Objective:
To drive continuous improvement across warehouse operations by using IT systems and digital tools that reduce costs, increase speed and accuracy, and support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
ERP Management:
- Lead the ongoing configuration, optimisation, and support of the ERP system, particularly within inventory, procurement, production, and distribution.
- Act as the first line of internal support for ERP-related issues.
- Deliver training to staff across departments on effective ERP use.
- Generate and analyse ERP reports to support business decision-making.
IT & Infrastructure Support:
- Provide in-house support for IT hardware (barcode scanners, printers, networking equipment, etc.) used in warehouse and office environments.
- Maintain and monitor all IT-related infrastructure and assets.
- Liaise with external IT support providers when necessary.
- Track and maintain IT inventory.
- Maintain and update business continuity procedures.
- Manage GDPR-related processes and compliance requirements.
Warehouse Operations:
- Oversee the daily running of the warehouse, including inventory control, shipping and receiving, and order fulfilment.
- Implement best practices to improve safety, efficiency, and stock accuracy.
- Use operational data to refine processes and identify opportunities for digital solutions.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives, including mobile scanning applications.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (e.g. inventory accuracy, order cycle time).
Logistics Support:
- Coordinate imports from European and Chinese suppliers, ensuring all documentation and logistics are compliant and accurate.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with global freight agents regarding both inbound and outbound shipments.
- Ensure customs documentation is prepared and submitted correctly for international movements.
- Review and authorise invoices related to international freight and UK-based consumable purchases.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in warehouse operations and/or IT systems support or management.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident communicator with excellent leadership skills.
- Experience delivering training and supporting change management initiatives.
- Familiar with data analytics and dashboard reporting tools.
- Understanding of warehouse layouts, safety practices, and process optimisation
