Finance Systems Manager

We're supporting a leading organisation in the West Midlands to appoint a Financial Systems Manager on a FTC for initially 6 months. This is a key role focused on shaping and delivering a strategic approach to financial systems, driving both new implementations and enhancements to existing platforms. Reporting into the Head of Financial Operations, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring systems are fit-for-purpose, future-ready, and aligned with organisational needs—while also deputising where required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on systems improvement, stakeholder engagement, and leading change in complex organisations.  Key Responsibilities Systems & Service Delivery
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of financial systems (including ERP platforms such as Agresso/Unit4).
  • Deliver high-quality, customer-focused services aligned to SLAs and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into effective system solutions.
  • Oversee system enhancements, upgrades, and new implementations.
 Analysis & Strategy
  • Keep up to date with financial systems market developments and emerging technologies.
  • Provide insight and recommendations on system functionality and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Define and manage a clear systems development roadmap aligned to organisational priorities.
Project & Change Management
  • Lead and manage system-related projects end-to-end, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines and governance frameworks.
  • Produce and present updates to programme/project boards and senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective resource planning across the systems team.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong relationships across academic and professional services teams.
  • Liaise with external providers and user groups (e.g. Unit4, sector forums, system user communities).
  • Deliver training and support to end users, ensuring adoption of new systems and processes
  • Support and develop internal teams, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing, coaching, and professional development. 
About You: We're looking for someone who combines technical systems expertise with strong stakeholder and delivery skills:
  • Experience working with financial systems / ERP platforms (e.g. Agresso / Unit4 Business World highly desirable)
  • Proven track record in systems implementation, development, or support
  • Strong understanding of business processes, analysis, and system design
  • Experience delivering projects and managing change in complex environments
  • Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical solutions
  • Advanced IT and systems knowledge
Experience within Public Sector is advantageous but not essential.
