Financial Data Modeller

To be considered for this role you must demonstrate a strong finance background, with proven experience in financial modelling and analysis. You will have expert-level experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, PowerApps, and Power Automate.

The role:

We're looking for a skilled Data Modeller to design and implement a streamlined, future-proof financial modelling solution using Power BI. The role will involve collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality analytical work, support integrated planning and performance cycles, and contribute to team development.

Key accountabilities:

  • Design and deliver financial and operational data models using Power BI and related Microsoft tools.
  • Provide analytical and modelling support to drive integrated business planning and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain logical, accurate, and timely models that represent key financial and operational data.
  • Produce scenario and what if analyses to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Contribute to business case development through expert financial modelling and data interpretation.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of data modelling systems and processes.
  • Produce and maintain documentation for developed Power Platform solutions to support business-as-usual operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve modelling practices and data-driven decision-making tools.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Strong finance background, with proven experience in financial modelling and analysis.
  • Expert-level experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, PowerApps, and Power Automate.
  • Proven track record as an experienced Power BI modeller, able to design, optimise, and maintain complex models.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong understanding of data modelling principles.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial and operational information with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience resolving financial system or process issues and producing high-quality reporting and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills (CIMA or equivalent qualification desirable).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High level of accountability, ownership, and focus on continuous improvement.

Desirable:

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of data structures and database design.
  • Proficiency in DAX, M Query, R, or Python for advanced analysis and automation.
  • Experience improving reporting systems or data processes in a large, complex organisation.
  • Ability to document and hand over developed Power Platform solutions for ongoing business use.
