Senior Technical Architect - hybrid working Leeds or Newcastle
As a Senior Technical Architect, you will work closely with engineering and digital delivery teams to design, deliver and maintain high-quality IT products and services. You will be accountable for product and solution architecture within projects or programme strands, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and business objectives.
You will bring deep expertise in at least one technical domain, alongside broad architectural knowledge, and play an active role in growing the technical architecture community through collaboration, shared patterns and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design of products or shared platforms, ensuring solutions meet user needs and business outcomes
- Own and assure the quality of solution architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, roadmaps and engineering practices
- Collaborate with engineers, product teams and digital professionals in agile environments to design value-for-money solutions
- Work with Enterprise and Domain Architects to implement approved architectures consistently across services
- Define and evolve architecture patterns and reference architectures, contributing to wider enterprise coherence
- Provide solution options and recommendations during discovery and inception phases to support informed decision-making
- Actively contribute to the architecture community and support an inclusive digital culture
Key Criteria (Essential)
- Proven experience leading solution and product architecture for complex systems in agile delivery environments
- Strong technical architecture skills, with depth in at least one domain (eg cloud, integration, software or security)
- Experience designing and implementing architecture patterns, standards and reference architectures
- Ability to work effectively with senior technical and business stakeholders, translating needs into practical solutions
- Solid understanding of modern cloud and integration architectures (eg APIs, microservices, CI/CD)
- Experience making technology choices aligned to enterprise architecture and long-term strategy
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working closely with engineering teams
