Our client, a growing and forward-thinking organisation based in Sheffield, is seeking an experienced Network and Infrastructure Manager to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of their IT infrastructure. This is a pivotal role for an individual who thrives on ensuring robust, secure, and scalable network and infrastructure solutions to support business operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the management, maintenance, and optimisation of all core infrastructure and network systems
- Design and implement network solutions that meet organisational needs for high availability and security
- Oversee infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, and roll-outs, ensuring minimal disruption and risk.
- Manage a small team of infrastructure and network professionals; provide mentorship and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the wider IT and business teams to align infrastructure with business goals.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and manage threat detection and response strategies.
- Maintain documentation of infrastructure topology, configurations, and procedures.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, service providers, and contractors.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Skills needed:
- Proven experience in a network and infrastructure management or senior engineering role
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless technologies.
- Proficiency in managing on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS).
- Experience with virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, etc.
- Familiarity with backup, recovery, and monitoring tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage critical incidents under pressure.
