Location & Travel
This is a hybrid role with occasional on-site requirements (approximately 1–2 days per month) at regional hubs, including:
- London
- Glasgow
- Newcastle
- Leeds
- Sheffield
- Manchester
- Birmingham
- Blackpool
- Cardiff
Role Overview
An experienced QA Engineer is required to support the delivery of high-quality digital services within a large-scale central government environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring robust test coverage, enhancing automation frameworks, and supporting performance testing across critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks
- Execute functional, integration, and performance testing
- Collaborate with developers, product teams, and stakeholders to ensure quality standards
- Identify, log, and track defects through to resolution
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and best practices
- Support Agile delivery teams
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with Java
- Proven expertise in Selenium and Cucumber
- Experience using Playwright for modern test automation
- Solid background in performance testing
- Experience working within central government or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies
Desirable Skills
- Experience working on large-scale digital transformation programmes
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Understanding of accessibility and security testing in regulated systems
