Senior Business Analyst

Rate: £450- 470 a day inside IR35

Location: Manchester (hybrid – approx. 1 day per week on-site)

Travel: Occasional travel required for team events, workshops, and discovery sessions

Clearance: BPSS required

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Contract – Initially 3 months (likely to be extended)

An experienced Senior Business Analyst is required to support delivery within a large-scale, complex public service transformation programme focused on working-age benefits.

Operating within a multidisciplinary digital team, the role will involve leading business analysis across multiple concurrent workstreams, ensuring alignment between business needs, policy intent, and technical delivery.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping service improvements by defining clear, actionable requirements and supporting delivery into live services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis activities across complex delivery environments and multiple workstreams
  • Act as the bridge between stakeholders, including business, technical, policy, and user-centred design teams
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across diverse functional areas
  • Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and stakeholder discussions to elicit requirements and explore problems
  • Analyse current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Define user needs and business requirements aligned to service objectives
  • Produce user stories and acceptance criteria to support agile delivery
  • Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and delivery managers to ensure requirements are understood and implementable
  • Support prioritisation and backlog management, identifying gaps and dependencies
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice within the Business Analysis community

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst (SFIA Level 5 or equivalent)
  • Strong background working in complex, large-scale delivery environments
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary agile teams
  • Excellent requirements elicitation and documentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into clear, deliverable requirements
