Senior Business Analyst

Location: Newcastle-based (team-defined hybrid working with occasional travel)

Rate: £450 - £470 a day inside IR35

Clearance: BPSS required

Contract Type: 3 Month contract – Likely to be extended

An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a major public-sector transformation programme focused on health and disability services.

The role sits within a multidisciplinary delivery team responsible for progressing the next phase of a developing data strategy and reviewing an existing data platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping future data capabilities, defining strategic direction, and supporting scalable service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements elicitation in a strategic context, helping shape direction and reduce ambiguity
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams, including technical and non-technical functions
  • Translate business needs into clear data requirements, including:
  • Measures
  • Dimensions
  • Attributes
  • Business definitions
  • Logical data sourcing rules
  • Develop business use cases to define capabilities required for a future-state data platform
  • Support the creation of a “North Star” vision for data within the programme
  • Conduct options analysis in collaboration with Solution Architects and Product Leads
  • Contribute to the design of data onboarding processes to support platform scalability
  • Support implementation of a data governance framework across the organisation
  • Assist in evaluating and improving data quality and suitability for solution

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience working as a Senior Business Analyst
  • Proven experience in Big Data and/or Data Warehouse environments
  • Ability to translate business requirements into data logic and structures
  • Experience producing business definitions and logical data sourcing rules
  • Hands-on experience with data profiling and assessing data quality
  • Understanding of:
  • Data platform architectures
  • Data models and schemas
  • Data consumption and reporting tools
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across complex, multi-team environments
  • Experience working in strategic or transformation settings
