AWS Platform Lead

My client a lead consultancy are looking for an experienced AWS Platform Lead to guide our cloud strategy and lead a team of AWS engineers and architects in designing and delivering secure, scalable, and innovative cloud solutions. This role combines strategic leadership, deep technical expertise, and strong project management skills to drive cloud transformation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of AWS engineers and solution architects.
  • Define and drive the organization's cloud adoption and migration strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions align with business objectives.
Technical Execution
  • Architect and implement secure, scalable, and highly available AWS solutions.
  • Oversee deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization of AWS infrastructure.
  • Conduct AWS Well-Architected Reviews and ensure adherence to best practices, governance, and compliance standards.
Project & Team Management
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation effectively.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Application Development teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
Innovation & Automation
  • Champion the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Lead the automation of infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and operational tasks.
  • Stay abreast of new AWS services and industry trends to ensure the platform remains modern and cost-efficient.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience leading cloud platform teams in a large-scale AWS environment.
  • Strong expertise in AWS architecture, services, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
  • Solid background in DevOps principles, CI/CD, and automation tooling.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or similar certifications.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (eg, ISO, SOC2, PCI-DSS).
