About the Role:

The Operational Risk Manager will report to the Chief Risk Officer and provide independent second-line oversight of operational risk across the Bank. The role is responsible for maintaining a robust operational risk framework, strengthening control effectiveness, and supporting the Bank’s operational resilience and regulatory compliance obligations.

This is a hands-on role that works closely with operations and central functions. It offers the opportunity to strengthen the Bank’s risk management capability while gaining exposure to a broad range of operational processes and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, maintain, and enhance the Bank’s operational risk framework, policies, and standards.
  • Facilitate Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) across the Bank, working with Risk Champions and business teams.
  • Oversee the capture, investigation, and root-cause analysis of operational loss events.
  • Develop, monitor, and report Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), escalating breaches, trends, and emerging risks as appropriate.
  • Assess control design and effectiveness and support remediation activity where gaps are identified.
  • Contribute to cyber risk management, operational resilience, business continuity planning, and scenario testing.
  • Support third-party and outsourcing risk assessments, including ongoing monitoring of related risks and controls.
  • Prepare clear and accurate operational risk reporting for senior management and governance committees.
  • Provide constructive challenge to first-line teams and help promote a strong risk culture across the Bank.

Skills / Experience:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in operational risk management within retail banking services.
  • Strong understanding of retail banking operations, processes, and control environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk identification skills.
  • A can-do attitude and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
