Azure Cloud Engineer (Azure / Terraform / DevOps / IoT)
Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire (Hybrid – typically 1–2 days onsite)
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000

Overview
A fast-growing, technology-led organisation within the energy sector is looking to hire an Azure Cloud Engineer to support the build and operation of a real-time platform powering flexible energy assets.
This is a hands-on role focused on designing, securing and operating scalable cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure. You’ll be working on live, production-critical systems where performance, reliability and data integrity are key.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working on modern cloud platforms, real-time data systems and building robust, scalable infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and manage Azure infrastructure using Terraform and/or Bicep
• Develop and maintain core services including Service Bus, Event Hubs, Functions and storage
• Work on real-time, event-driven data pipelines
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions)
• Deliver and maintain multi-environment setups (dev, test, production)
• Implement monitoring, alerting and performance optimisation
• Support incident response and continuous improvement of systems
• Apply secure-by-design principles across all environments
• Manage RBAC, managed identities and Key Vault
• Support multi-region deployments across global environments
Requirements
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep)
• CI/CD experience (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions)
• Experience with messaging systems (Service Bus, Event Hubs)
• Understanding of event-driven architectures
• Experience working on production systems with monitoring and alerting
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles (RBAC, identity, networking)
Desirable
• Experience with IoT or real-time data systems
• Exposure to time-series databases (InfluxDB, QuestDB etc.)
• Containerisation (Docker)
• Experience within energy, infrastructure or regulated environments
