Azure Cloud Engineer (Azure / Terraform / IoT)

Overview

A fast-growing technology-led business within the renewable energy sector is looking to appoint an Azure Cloud Engineer to support the development and operation of a large-scale, real-time cloud platform used across international energy infrastructure environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, securing and maintaining scalable Azure infrastructure that supports high-volume real-time data processing, IoT connectivity and global deployment. The environment is highly technical, delivery-focused and suited to someone who enjoys solving complex cloud and infrastructure challenges within production-critical systems.

The business operates across multiple renewable and flexible energy technologies and continues to invest heavily in cloud engineering, automation and platform scalability as part of its wider international growth plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and manage Azure infrastructure using Terraform and/or Bicep

• Support real-time IoT and event-driven cloud platforms

• Manage Azure services including IoT Hub, Service Bus, Functions and App Services

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions

• Deliver and support multi-environment cloud deployments

• Implement monitoring, alerting and audit logging across production systems

• Support cloud security, RBAC, managed identities and secure access controls

• Monitor system reliability, performance, latency and throughput

• Support incident response, root cause analysis and platform improvements

• Work with internal and external teams to support scalable global deployments

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep

• Experience with Azure IoT Hub, Service Bus/Event Hubs and Azure Functions

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation

• Experience working with event-driven architectures and messaging systems

• Understanding of cloud security principles including RBAC and Key Vault

• Experience supporting production environments with monitoring and alerting

• Strong communication and collaboration skills within technical teams

Desirable

• Experience with time-series databases such as QuestDB or InfluxDB

• Exposure to IoT or industrial communication systems

• Experience with Docker or containerised deployments

• Background within energy, infrastructure or regulated industries

• Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-500 or AZ-400
