You don't need to have experience as a team leader to be in contention for this role as it would suit a motivated engineer looking to step up.You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of a highly automated environment, working with equipment such as conveyors and PLC-controlled systems, and associated electrical and mechanical components.This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a modern facility that offers cutting-edge technology, ongoing training, and strong progression opportunities.About the TeamOur team of Maintenance Engineers are highly skilled control systems engineers who lead a team within our fully automated facility. This is a key position combining 80% hands-on technical work and 20% administrative responsibility.As a team leader, you will oversee maintenance, automation, and control operations using advanced technologies and be provided with an outstanding platform to enhance your technical expertise and leadership capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate a team of engineers and clerksPrioritise maintenance activities and allocate tasks effectivelyPerform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on automation systemsDiagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control system faultsRespond rapidly to breakdowns to minimise operational downtimeMaintaining and troubleshooting work on conveyors, motors, sensors, VFDs, scanners and pneumatic system and PLC-controlled systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley)Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actionsDrive continuous improvement initiatives for system performanceEnsure compliance with health & safety standardsMaintain accurate records using CMMS/Maximo systemsSupport installation and commissioning of new equipmentCollaborate closely with operations during peak periodsRequirementsElectrical Engineering Degree (HNC/HND)Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and diagramsStrong electrical fault-finding skillsKnowledge of conveyors, sorters, motors, sensors, relays, and drivesWorking knowledge of PLC systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley)Strong understanding of health & safety practicesExcellent communication and teamwork skillsFlexibility to work shifts, weekends, and overtime17th / 18th Edition desirable but not essentialWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits packageCompany pension schemePaid maternity leaveOngoing training and development opportunitiesSupportive and collaborative engineering teamModern, automated working environmentEmployee wellbeing programmeAnnual bonus opportunitiesEqual Opportunity StatementUPS is committed to treating all individuals fairly.
