Job Title : IT Systems Administrator

Location: Ubisense, St Andrews House, Cambridge. The role requires on-site attendance.

About the Role:

The System Administrator coordinates with various other professionals, such as technicians, managers, and executives, and the respective teams. Therefore, the role requires interaction with a variety of different systems and personnel with different aims and levels of knowledge, from finance to software and hardware development, and to service delivery. The person should be able to convey their message, which may involve complex ideas, in a way that is easy to comprehend for people.

Role Introduction:

The system administrator has visibility into the entire business ecosystem, putting them in contact with staff in all the overseas subsidiaries. They must have good server and networking foundational skills, which can be developed in the role. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be approachable and helpful. The system administrator should be able to convey technical aspects to people who may not be as well-versed.

Some projects with urgent deadlines may need immediate attention, and therefore, good organisational skills and attention to detail are vital.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Providing desktop, mobile, and network support
  • Providing security awareness training and support
  • Determine staff needs and prioritise tasks accordingly
  • Managing server administration, server upgrades, and other backend upgrades, such as anti-virus and hard drive encryption
  • Responsible for the technical troubleshooting and operation of Jira and Confluence
  • Keeping line manager informed of project statuses, emergent issues, and urgent issues resolved
  • Communicates information about technology changes and enhancements with the COO
  • Handles daily and monthly tasks around anti-virus, servers, server-based services, firewalls, switches, patch management, and compliance
  • Make changes to documentation as appropriate, and help ensure all processes and systems are fully documented
  • Interpreting and solving problems when reported or when a monitoring system alerts that a problem exists
  • Providing assistance where needed on the AWS and Azure development environments

Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years in a service desk and networking

Education and Training:

  • Network + certification
  • Windows Server 2019

Compensation: up to £45,000 per year, depending on experience
