Backend Engineer (Kotlin) – Hybrid (London) – Up to £80k 💰

Join a rapidly growing cleantech company as a Mid Backend Kotlin Engineer , helping to accelerate the global move toward clean and affordable energy. The team is building an integrated hardware and software smart-grid platform that powers residential EV charging, using data, AI, and strong partnerships to connect vehicles, chargers, people, and energy providers — putting consumers at the center of the energy transition.

🚀 What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and maintain scalable backend systems using Kotlin
• Deliver clean, reliable, and well-tested production code
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy
• Collaborate with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions
• Guide and mentor junior developers, fostering continuous learning and improvement

🧠 What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of hands-on commercial experience with Kotlin
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot or similar frameworks (e.g., Ktor)
• Proven experience designing and developing robust APIs
• Familiarity with Agile practices, peer reviews, and test-driven development
• Solid understanding of software design principles and best practices (SOLID, design patterns, etc.)
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, high-quality technical solutions
