Remote - First 2 days onsite in London

We are seeking an Application Architect to join our finance client on a contract basis. The role is focused on designing and supporting delivery of an MVP in Azure that will showcase reusable capabilities to enable transition away from a legacy application estate.

You will ensure the MVP is both strategically aligned and practically deliverable. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, business analysis, application teams and IT to define the right technology stack, design the solution end-to-end and deliver a working product.

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Design

  • Define the application architecture for the MVP in Microsoft Azure.
  • Ensure solution components are modular, reusable, and scalable.
  • Define the integration patterns between the application, backend, and surrounding systems.

Technology Stack Selection

  • Partner with the customer to assess and select the appropriate framework/technology/languages based on business and user requirements.
  • Balance short-term MVP needs with long-term sustainability.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with business users to understand needs, validate requirements, and iterate on solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guide delivery best practices.
  • Ensure alignment with standards, governance, and security expectations.

Transition Planning

  • Document architecture decisions, reusable components, and roadmap for scaling beyond MVP.
  • Contribute to defining the path off the legacy application with reusable modern capabilities.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an Application Architect with architectural responsibilities.
  • Strong experience with Azure.
  • Understanding and experience using SQL.
  • Practical experience selecting and delivering frameworks.
  • Skilled in API design and integration patterns.
  • Strong grasp of cloud-native principles, reusable design, and modular architectures.
  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements in financial services.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work closely with business and IT stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience in finance or regulated industries.
