BI Developer
The Role
Unite Students have an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Data & Insight team in Bristol on a six month fixed-term contract. As we upgrade our data platform to modernise our analytics and AI capabilities, you will play a pivotal role in our enterprise-wide transformation programme, rebuilding our most business-critical Tableau dashboards using data from our new platforms.
Reporting to the Senior Analytics Manager, you will work at pace to deliver high-quality, user-friendly dashboards that enable commercial teams to make confident, data-driven decisions. Alongside this, you may also contribute to smaller projects across the business, supporting the team`s wider objectives.
What You`ll Be Doing
- Recreate and enhance business-critical sales dashboards in Tableau, ensuring accuracy and usability.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into clear, actionable dashboards.
- Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data pipelines and models align with reporting needs.
- Work within a multi-capability project team, contributing to the successful delivery of the wider transformation programme.
- Support the management and optimisation of the Tableau Cloud platform.
- Provide ad-hoc support on other analytics initiatives within the Data & Insight team.
Key Success Metrics
- Delivery of accurate, engaging dashboards that inform commercial decisions and can be adopted quickly by end users.
- Strong, productive relationships with stakeholders across commercial, customer-facing, and central teams.
- Identification of opportunities for quick wins and improvements in existing reporting, helping to deliver additional value during the project.
- Contribution to the Data & Insight team`s ability to deliver on wider business objectives through effective reporting.
What We ` re Looking for in You
- Proven Tableau expertise, with a track record of designing high-quality, insightful dashboards.
- Strong SQL skills for querying, validating, and shaping data.
- Experience working end-to-end on analytics projects: from requirements gathering through to design, build, testing, and support.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Highly organised, able to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of deliverables, while contributing effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Beneficial:
- Awareness of UX principles and best practices in dashboard design.
- Experience querying or connecting to cloud data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake).
- A degree in a numerate discipline.
