The day-to-day coordination of the System Access Services (SAS) Office and Operation of the Trusts Registration Authority (RA) as well as the general System Access processes. The quality of RA and system access management is fundamental to managing the legitimate relationships that control access to patient records.
Whilst working alone and with initiative, provide an efficient and flexible System Access support service to the Digital Services Department.
Act as a Registration Authority Agent and assist in the introduction and development of Registration Authority procedures per the requirements of the NHS National Care Record Service (NCRS).
The post holder will assist in the coordination of a team of System Access and Registration Authority officers co-ordinating their workload, monitoring their performance and ensuring that training is provided.
Provide first-line support to both the NHS and local Care Record Services (CRS) users regarding the use of NCRS smartcards and Role Based Access Controls.
Manage the Trusts ID Card production, in collaboration with Facilities.

1. Day-to-day administration of The Trust Registration Authority including:
o Issuing Smartcards to users who have been sponsored and who have suitably proven identities per the national RA processes.o Updating user access profiles per Sponsor's requirements.o Cessation and suspension of Smartcard certificates per the Sponsors' requirements.o Ensuring that the RA Policies and procedures are adhered to within own area of responsibility.o Providing support to trust users and sponsors on process, hardware and application problems.o Maintain a register of all RA equipment and manage the issue to staff and the servicing of the RA hardware. The management and ordering of consumables e.g. printer ink ribbons and smartcards.o Managing the replacement of smartcard digital certificates as required.o Escalating process, hardware and application problems that the post holder cannot resolve to the ICT Operational Support Manager.o Initial investigating and reporting of smartcard security incidents.o Training local departmental System Access Officers/Registration Authority Agents.o Ensuring that all RA documentation/forms are securely retained and accessible, under the National Policy.o Management of workgroup set-up and maintenance in the Smartcard National system.o Attending Reginal Registration Authority meetings

Manage first, second and third-line support for Access Control issues using the ICT service desk software. Check the service desk for tasks regularly and ensure the team is completing them within the SLA requirements. Managing Workgroup set-up and maintenance of all access control systems. Set up and allocate appropriate positions and roles to users based on agreed system role maps and where the user has been appropriately sponsored for the access level. Remove or modify a users access where the user no longer requires this access. Pass all other requests for support to the appropriate person promptly. Manage the new starters and leavers process
Person Specification
Qualifications
- To have been educated to A Level qualification or equivalent standard
- Evidence of computer systems training to a minimum of ECDL or equivalent with evidence of ongoing personal and management development
- Degree qualification in a related discipline,
- Advanced IT qualification
- Professional Affiliation, e.g. BCS
- Have undertaken the - NHS CRS User Registration Service - User Registration Course
Previous Experience
- A basic understanding of the Standards that are applied to the protection of patient information within the NHS
- Working knowledge of the National Registration Authority policies and procedures
- Experienced MS Office
- Email and Internet experience
- Maintenance of fairly complex database records
- Evidence of working within a team
- Good NHS experience within an informatics environment
