The role
Join United Utilities as Lead OT Regional Engineer! Are you ready to lead a high impact team at the cutting edge of Operational Technology? As the Lead OT Regional Engineer, you will be the driving force behind the Data and Assets hub within our Regional Support team, a vital part of our OT Operations and the wider Technology Services family. In this role, you’ll lead a talented squad of technical experts and analysts, empowering them to deliver exceptional support and innovative solutions across a broad spectrum of technologies and service lines for customers right across United Utilities.
Your passion for data analytics, reporting, and programming will be your toolkit as you build and nurture high-performing data teams that push boundaries and deliver real business value. You’ll bring hands-on experience with programming languages like SQL, Python, PowerBI, and Grafana, turning complex data into clear, actionable insights that shape our operational future.
Whether reacting swiftly to challenges or proactively shaping OT strategy, your deep knowledge of Operational Technology will ensure we stay ahead of the curve. Key accountabilities
- Collaborate with OT Area Support Managers to shape and execute both short-term and long-term Technology Services business plans.
- Take charge of managing and maintaining OT data relating to our Operational Technology estate.
- Design and implement robust data management processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance.
- Develop reports and dashboards to support the department and wider business, presenting findings in a clear and actionable format.
- Identify and tackle operational and technical challenges related to security, condition, serviceability, and optimisation.
- Build and nurture robust working relationships with customers at all levels, promoting trust and collaboration.
Skills & Experience
- Understanding of telemetry, security, systems integration, and control & automation.
- Strong experience with programming software such as SQL, PowerBI, Python, Grafana
- Working knowledge of GeoSCADA, Networking, SCADA, PLC, and HMI, as well as client applications on both modern frameworks and legacy systems.
- Ability to create reports using different tools and platforms to meet various needs.
- Experienced in analysing and refining operational processes to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and support continuous improvement.
- Proven experience in leading a small team.
Other
HNC/HND/Degree qualified or have equivalent technical experience
