Software Team Lead

Software Development Team Leader

Hybrid (Manchester – 2days)

£65,000 - £75,000 + benefits

Join a global, privately owned and operated organisation working on some of the most sophisticated tech stacks in industry, spanning software engineering, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, AI, and data science...they have many growing teams and global reach and continue to set new standards across technology.

This role is best for someone who wants to take ownership of delivery, mentor great engineers, and guiding the evolution of a platform built for scale and speed.

You'll be leading a smart, driven team that plays a key part in keeping things running smoothly across multiple fast-paced environments.

It's not just about writing solid code (though that's still important!), it's about steering delivery, raising the bar for quality, and helping your team grow and succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading a team of developers to build reliable, secure, and scalable solutions
  • Managing and prioritising work across the full development lifecycle
  • Partnering with senior engineers and tech leads to shape modern, well-architected systems
  • Spotting and unblocking issues (both technical and operational)
  • Acting as the go-to person when big problems need quick, smart resolutions
  • Promoting clean code and delivery best practices
  • Supporting your team's growth with regular feedback, mentoring, and career guidance
  • Running stand-ups, 1:1s, team check-ins, and helping with bigger-picture planning

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience leading dev teams from delivery to mentoring
  • Solid knowledge of at least one backend language or tech stack (.NET, Python, Java, Golang, etc...)
  • Experience working with microservices and cloud-based systems
  • Always looking for ways to improve processes, automate and work smarter
  • Familiar with tools like version control, code repositories, and DevOps pipelines
  • A background in Computer Science / Software Engineering (or equivalent experience that gets the job done)

If big systems, fast-moving challenges and modern tech get you fired up, this could be your next move.
