Job description

· Lead the solution design and architecture for complex projects, from concept to execution.

· Identify end-to-end solutions that align with industry standards & best practice (architecture, quality & risk)

· Understand business imperatives to ensure technical solutions meet requirements for performance, scalability, and reliability, whilst remaining aligned to the business and technology strategies.

· Participate in the strategic governance of projects and programmes; including where necessary challenging decisions that compromise the architecture vision, provide clear advice and decisions to both colleagues and stakeholders.

· Providing technical leadership and guidance to the wider technology and project teams, ensuring adherence to architectural principles, standards and best practices across the full delivery lifecycle.

· Develop comprehensive architecture blueprints & roadmaps.

· Work with solution and domain architects to maintain technology roadmaps that align to the enterprise architecture principles, vision, and strategy.

· Support the Head of Enterprise Architecture in clearly promoting the vision, goals, and strategy of enterprise architecture outside of the architectural community in non-technical terms.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a solution architect role(s) in large scale, complex technology programmes and strategic initiatives in the Banking or Financial Services industry
  • Strong experience of producing architectural blueprints and solution design documentation spanning: Services, Applications, Integration, Technology, Security and Data
  • Expertise in the application of architectural thinking, evaluating design options, recognising architectural significance and developing abstracted views of processes, business systems and/or functions
  • Extensive experience with Cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) and their use in Financial / Economic / Regulatory services organisations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on delivery high-quality solutions.
  • Experience of working with architectural frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Experience of working within both Waterfall and Agile delivery environments.
  • Experience of designing solutions for cloud environments and/or migrating existing solutions to cloud.

Qualifications

  • CITP or CEng or equivalent rounded IT experience
  • TOGAF or equivalent related business technology architect qualification
  • Membership of relevant architecture / IT professional associations (e.g., BCS, IASA)
