Digital Clinical Informatics Safety Specialist

Job summary

Are you a healthcare professional with an interest in developing as a digital clinical informatics safety specialist? We have an exciting opportunity to join our digital safety team.

The Digital Clinical Informatics Safety Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Digital Clinical Safety Lead for Digital Healthcare to ensure that our digital clinical systems are safe and being used safely to improve patient care and outcomes. They will provide leadership, visibility and expert support to the digital clinical safety work in the organisation.

The post is part-time (22.5 hours) and fixed term until 31 August 2030. We would consider applications for flexible and hybrid working.

Main duties of the job

This exciting role combines elements of patient safety, risk management, clinical informatics and digital systems safety. The main duties of the role are to:- Ensure compliance with the legislation and requirements for digital clinical systems- Support the delivery of the Trust digital safety priorities and improvement plans- Contribute to electronic health record and other digital systems related patient safety and risk management activities

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential
  • oClinical Graduate and postgraduate level competence or equivalent higher education qualification or equivalent experience in patient safety
  • oNHS Digital Clinical Safety Practitioner certified
  • oWorking in a large and complex organisation (circa 5,000) staff multi-disciplinary teams

Experience

Essential
  • oExperience in a Patient or Clinical Safety Management Role within a large organisation
  • oProven ability to deliver to tight deadlines
  • oProven ability to analyse a broad range of management/ clinical information and identify recommendation actions
  • oExperience of investigating complex and challenging patient safety or clinical incidents
  • oExperience of performing safety assessments and risk analysis and developing action plans
  • oLeading and/or organising multidisciplinary teams
  • oAnalysis of complex data and presentation of this data and reports across the organisation.
Desirable
  • oTechnical knowledge of application lifecycles and techniques

Skills and Abilities

Essential
  • oExcellent coordination, organisational and negotiation abilities
  • oEffective written and verbal communication skills including report writing skills.
  • oAbility to create and deliver complex presentations to both digital healthcare and clinical staff, often in large, multi-disciplinary groups
  • oAbility to work effectively with staff at all levels across the organisation
  • oUnderstanding of NHS Patient Safety and Digital policies / agenda
  • oAbility to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • oAbility to work under pressure dealing with changing & sometimes conflicting priorities
  • oThe ability to lead meetings, prioritise tasks and resolve conflicts
Desirable
  • oUnderstanding of complex health IT systems
  • oUnderstanding of the NHS Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and ability to apply it
