Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working in both a training and digital healthcare role to support our Electronic Health Record (Epic) system which went live in April 2019. We are looking for a skilled, experiencedand enthusiastic Senior Principal Trainer to join our innovative Epic Training team.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Principal Trainer, you will design and deliver Epic training to staff across all professions. A good understanding of key clinical workflows and terminology is therefore required, with clinical experience desirable. You will lead on the design and delivery of allocated Epic training courses; help create Epic eLearning; assist with quality improvement projects relating to Epic design and implementation; work closely with specialist leads and educators, and be part of the Epic superuser community we have here at UCLH. As part of this role, you will also need to undertake and complete a formal Epic qualification.

You will also lead the e-Learning function across the Epic training team which will include line management of our e-Learning team.We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic team member who can adapt to this fast-paced and broad role. Applicants will require strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and adjust priorities quickly to the rapidly changing needs of a large teaching hospital.

Please be aware as part of the selection process, candidates will need to undertake and pass the Epic Aptitude Test. Candidates who do not pass the test will unfortunately not be considered for the role, due to the requirements and standards set by our EHRS supplier (Epic).

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent professional qualification/experience), plus higher professional clinical/management experience or qualifications at master's level
  • Good knowledge and understanding of NHS clinical, administrative and operational workflows
  • Hold (or be willing to work towards) technical configuration accreditation following the EHRS provider's training programme
  • Specialist knowledge of EHRS including Epic certification

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of build, configuration and testing on the Epic training environment
  • Experience of principles and procedures of software development and associated standardisation principles
  • Experience of delivering training to Groups, both in person and virtually
  • Previous NHS or Healthcare experience
  • Previous experience of working within a complex, change-driven environment

Communication & Influencing Skills

Essential
  • The ability to lead meetings, prioritise tasks and resolve conflicts
