Band 4 Data and IT Support Officer - Emergency Department (HGS)
Job summary
The post holder will work as part of the UHB Emergency Department System & Data Support Team across all sites. They will be using multiple data sources and analytical tools to provide insight and support decision making in the Emergency Department. The role also provides first line support for IT infrastructure and Trust systems.
Main duties of the job
variety of KPI's such as the 4hr and 12hr targets, ambulance handover delays, mental health auditing, 30 minute speciality escalation, etc. The post holder will provide targeted
application support, ensuring the smooth operational running of the ED's. This may include but is not limited to: resolution of printer / scanning issues; allocating / updating passwords and staff profiles for ED systems; liaising with Main IT departments for rapid resolution of IT issues.
The post involves a wide range of administrative tasks arising from services provided by the Emergency Department Directorate within UHB. This post holder may be required to work across all sites within the Emergency Directorate as required.
* To identify data inaccuracies in breach coding on the Emergency Department systems and correct these.
* To participate in the preparation of breach and performance reports.
* To liaise with clinical staff and managers to feedback trends in data corrections to support improved staff and team performance.
* Where there are anomalies between the automated electronic data on the system and the clinician manually inputted data, the post holder will liaise with the relevant clinician to
ensure accurate data is recorded, amending where necessary.

* To assist with data extraction, collection, analysis and validation to facilitate data quality improvements activity, where appropriate under the guidance of the Data Systems Manager and Clinical Leads.
* To monitor and where appropriate, assist with the dissemination of results and implementation of data quality audit and or data quality improvement activities.
* To organise and maintain manual and electronic records, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
* To maintain comprehensive information resources pertinent to data quality and systems support, ensuring all amendments are auditable.
* To maintain records of completed validations for the department.
* In conjunction with directorate staff to develop action plans to address findings of data quality reporting in support of improvement against key indicators.
* To assist in the resolution of printing and scanning issues.
* To assist in the maintenance of the electronic notes on the system, ensuring correct patient notes are scanned to the correct patient attendance.
* To assist in the creation of accounts for both clinical and non-clinical staff on the systems used in ED.
* To allocate and/ update passwords and staff profiles for ED systems.
* To assist in the resolution of other issues with ED systems, liaising with the trust IT department for rapid resolution.
* To attend meetings pertinent to data quality and systems support as directed by the Data Systems Manager.
* To assist the Clinical and Operational Leads and the Data Systems Manager with any other activities as required to enhance the development of data quality and performance
improvement activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- * Educated to A-level standard or equivalent.
- * Degree in Information Technology
Experience
- * High level of competence in Microsoft Office programmes, including Excel. Word,PowerPoint, Access etc.
- * Excellent track record in accuracy.
- * Familiar with basic data manipulation including identification, accessing and downloading of data, design set up and development of data entry systems.
- * Advanced Excel skills.
- * Some knowledge of medical terms to aid in understanding clinical processes and the recording of precise information.
