Band 5 Junior Programmer Analyst

Job summary

The post holder will be a key member the (Wolfson EQA Software) WES development team, with a junior training role in helping to maintain system functionality, and project development. Software development, configuration and support.

As an integral member of a highly skilled team, the post holder will work in a learning / developmental capacity whilst training to become a WES specialist programmer analyst under the supervision of senior members of the team; contributing to the analysis, design, programming and configuration work associated with the development and routine deployment of one or more of the complex computer systems designed and developed by the WES development team.

The post holder will be involved in WES system configurations required for Labgnostic users to enable them to transfer their External Quality Assessment (EQA) data electronically.

This is an interactive process requiring the post holder to liaise with Clinical Laboratories and Labgnostic support staff to resolve queries, inconsistencies, etc.

Extensive testing and checking procedures are required at all times following the entry of data into WES in order to ensure the information is fit for purpose before transfer to the live system. The post holder will have involvement in this checking process as overseen by their line manager.

The post holder will undertake other WES and Office supporting tasks as required, following training and skills/knowledge attained, relevant to the job role.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for investigating and resolving day to day WES issues as they arise, relative to ongoing instruction and guidance ; referring to WES support team when appropriate.

Test extensively the changes entered into WES prior to release into live operation.

Support WES team for system releases / upgrades where appropriate.

Testing that any new equipment or technology introduced does not compromise the performance or reliability of existing systems or services.
