At University Hospitals Birmingham, our Integration Team develops and supports the digital connections that allow clinical and corporate systems to share information safely, reliably and effectively. These integrations help ensure that the right information is available to the right people, supporting better decisions, smoother services and reduced risk across the Trust.
We are looking for a Senior Integration Programmer to join our specialist IT Services team. You will work with technologies including Rhapsody, HL7, FHIR, XML, JSON and REST services, taking a leading role in designing, developing, testing and improving integration solutions.

Main duties of the job
As a Senior Integration Programmer, you will:
*Design, develop, test and support integrations that enable secure exchange of information across clinical and corporate systems.
*Create integration solutions using Rhapsody, HL7, FHIR, REST services, XML and JSON.
*Lead technical delivery on integration projects, ensuring solutions are robust, reliable and meet best practice.
*Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve issues, helping maintain high service availability.
*Create and execute test plans, support releases and contribute to continuous improvement.
*Work closely with stakeholders, translating requirements into effective solutions.
*Provide technical leadership, peer review and mentor team members to support development.
*Contribute to development of standards, processes and documentation to improve quality and consistency.
We are looking for someone with:
*Strong development and integration skills, including JavaScript, SQL and XML/JSON.
*Excellent analysis and problem-solving ability.
*The ability to manage priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.
*Strong communication skills and ability to explain concepts to a range of audiences.
*A proactive, creative and shared approach, with a commitment to learn and improve.
*Experience with integration standards would be advantageous.

Qualifications
- * BTEC National or Higher or 3 A levels
- * Relevant IT or other science degree or degree level experience
- * Rhapsody Certified [Professional /Associate]
Experience
- * Use of Javascript, c#, TSQL and XML/JSON
- * System Integration and data transfer protocols
- * A good knowledge and understanding of the clinical processes involved in secondary, tertiary and to a lesser extent secondaryxtent primary healthcare environments.
- * Software design, development and support environment that involves complex computer systems and that roughly parallels that of clinical IT systems within the NHS.
- * Demonstrable experience of working in Source Control software e.g., Microsoft TFS.
- * Use of Web Services (SOAP, RESTFul JSON), FHIR HL7
- * Experience in message transformation and use of Integration Engine.
