Band 8c Transformation Manager

Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the strategic and operational management for Transformation in Pathology. This will include responsibility for compiling business plans, developing long term strategy for the area, ensuring that the implementation of any strategy is met and contributes to corporate policies and strategy. They will also have full responsibility for staff and budgetary management.

The postholder will provide leadership and expert advice in the development and implementation of the pathology network and collaborating with other providers within Birmingham and Solihull.

The post holder will have a high level of professional expertise, past experience in the delivery of complex programmes, strong management skills and excellent interpersonal, influencing and analytical skills.

In undertaking this role the postholder is expected to develop proportionate programme and project monitoring and reporting arrangements to support management decision-making, including providing advice and guidance to the BSOL pathology network and the Director of pathology.

As required the postholder may be expected to present to Trust Board meetings or committees in respect to their work and to secure approval at key decision points within their portfolio.

The post holder is managerially responsible to the Director of Pathology but will be required to work closely with a range of people in the pathology network partner organisation.

Main duties of the job

Project Management

*Work alongside Executive Senior Responsible Officers (who lead each workstream) to identify and deliver priority activities to deliver programme objectives, holding operational teams to account for the delivery of these objectives and associated benefits.

*Responsible for leading project managers on developing and implementing plans to support the delivery of programme objectives along with other associated documents.

*Working with the Executive Senior Responsible Officers, responsible for mapping programme level dependencies and actively managing key stakeholder relationships

*Assist the project leads in the delivery of projects, including the management of changing demands and pressures that may impact on project delivery, through detailed resource allocation and monitoring.

*Planning and organisation of a broad range of complex programme activities, some of which are ongoing, which require the formulation and adjustment of plans and strategies on behalf of the Executive Senior Responsible Officers.

*Ensure that projects and programmes are delivered on time with business benefits realised. Evaluate and refine project and programme tracking tools.

*Ensure the programme is agile and adapts to reflect any significant changes in the collaborative landscape or external environment, such as changes in policy or strategy.

Qualifications

Essential
  • * Specialist professional knowledge over more than one discipline acquired over a significant period e.g. In depth professional knowledge in more than one of the following;
  • financial management, performance management, information systems, staff management, project / change management acquired though Masters / equivalent training and
  • experience over a significant time.
  • * Commitment to continuing personal development and identifying own development needs

Experience

Essential
  • * Significant recent experience of working in an NHS provider organisation in a senior management position, managing large scale complex projects / change programmes, building engagement and involvement to ensure sustainability
  • * Proven experience of leading engagement that drives behavioural and or practice change
  • * Demonstrable experience in leading and shaping a positive culture
  • * Evidence of shaping the strategic direction of a team, an organisation or system in conjunction with the Trust Board and a role in communicating the strategic vision
  • across the Trust and externally
  • * Demonstrable experience in successfully monitoring delivery of strategic plans, including taking appropriate corrective action in a timely manner involving uncertainty
  • and has impacted across whole organisations
  • * Evidence of enabling positive change and better outcomes for patients and carers.
